What is Career Connections?
A very cool, unique way for seniors to learn about career opportunities and job openings at area companies! It began in 2017 and was very well received by both seniors and employers.
What makes Career Connections unique?
You are paired up with one or two other seniors and get to meet with reputable area company reps, one employer at a time (face to face), about the types of careers they offer, pay, benefits, training, paid educational opportunities, or apprenticeships.
What is the format?
“Speed meetings!” You meet with different company reps for FIVE minutes each and then rotate to the next one. Fast paced, not boring, learning about many companies in a short period of time!
When you finish, you and the employers will receive a free lunch and a chance to talk more with them (one to one) if you wish.
Who qualifies?
Any senior (not enrolled in a 4-year university) who is undecided about their future plans. You must register in advance and attend the brief preliminary meeting the week prior.
When is the Career Connections event?
During the school day, typically in late March or early April. (Pre-registered students will be excused from classes by the principal.)
Where is Career Connections held?
Slinger High School
How do I sign up?
If you are a senior, have not enrolled in a four year university, and are still unsure what you want to do after graduation, contact Mr. Russ Hermann.
What should I bring?
Students are required to bring a current resume. Also, bring a notepad and pen.
What’s in it for employers?
Employers get to personally meet several graduating seniors who are seeking employment and obtain contact information for each student (with student permission).
