Slinger High School Snowboard Team is a competitive Alpine racing team formed in 2015. We race in a conference with other SE Wisconsin High Schools during the regular season. This past 2024 season, our Women's Team brought home the State Championship, becoming 3 time back-to-back state champions!! Our men's snowboarding team finished as State Champion runner-up, and 3x State Champions in 2021, 2022, 2023.
The team practices on Wednesdays and Sundays at Little Switzerland when the hill opens for the season. There are a total of eight competition days in the regular season, which usually start on the first weekend of the new year. Competitions are on weekends and have been in Southern Wisconsin, with the exception of the State Championships held at Mt. LaCrosse. All racers compete in Slalom, Giant Slalom, and Boardercross events.
We have both JV and Varsity teams, and all students race at each event. Students who compete on the Varsity team have the opportunity to earn a Varsity Letter. No racing experience is required to join the team, and there are no tryouts. All racers, however, must start with a basic ability to snowboard, be able to get on and off the lift independently, and maneuver the hill with control.
Our Information/Registration meeting will be held Thursday, October 3rd from 6:30pm-8:00pm in the Slinger High School Cafeteria. We will discuss an overview of the team, expectations, and answer all questions. The meeting is open to all students, preferably with a parent, of Slinger High School for the 2024-2025 school year.
